From the desk of:

Okey Samuel Mbonu

Nigeria is a land of people striving to reach for the stars. The greatest hurdle that stands between Nigerians and their dreams is the application of law and justice. Nigeria cannot lead the world if it cannot gain the trust and respect of its own citizens. Under a new Mbonu administration there will be new tone for law and order - a Zero Corruption Policy.

Together we will create a judicial standard to restore ethics and integrity to Nigeria’s governments. The process will not happen overnight - but we will be emphatically committed to rooting out the thieves that gain their wealth at the expense of Nigerian families. If Nigerians are to trust the business practices of the state - then the state must become worthy of trust.

On day one of an Mbonu administration there will be strong support to place federal law enforcement under local control. We have all seen the abuses and failings of a federal police force. Its brutality and corruption can no longer be tolerated and its violators must be held to account.

To ensure that local law enforcement and oversight does not become corrupt the Mbonu administration will strive to create a new federal inspector general commission of police affairs (not appointed, but popularly elected) to police the police. The Mbonu administration envisions that inspector generals will be popularly elected by each State in Nigeria.

The Mbonu administration will be committed to working with each state to root out corruption and regain the trust of Nigerians. The Military will coordinate with the state governments in Nigeria, only being deployed at the request of a governor and local police forces. The Military will only be used as a last resort to enhance local law enforcement efforts to maintain and protect the peace.

When criminals have military weapons - we will use military force upon request.

The Mbonu administration will create a “Ministry of Ethics and Forensic Accounting” to investigate the dealings and business practices of elected and appointed officials. This will bring a new level of accountability to Nigerian officials.

It is far past time to implement a national whistleblower law to protect those that report illegal activities from retaliation. The Mbonu administration will ensure that Nigeria has the best whistleblower law in the world so government officials are held accountable.
